制冷压缩机是制冷装置中最主要的设备通常称为制冷装置中的主机制冷剂蒸气从低压提高为高压以及汽体的不断流动、输送都是借助于制冷的工作完成的也就是说制冷压缩机的作用是

从蒸发器中吸取制冷剂蒸气以保证蒸发器内一定的蒸发压力

提高压力将低压低温的制冷剂蒸气压缩为高压高温的过热蒸气创造在较高温度（如夏季35℃左右的气温）下冷凝的条件

输送并推动制冷剂在系统内流动完成制冷循环
